Whether you live in Coronado or are just visiting, there’s plenty of summer events for everyone to participate in. We’ve rounded up some of our favorites!
4th of July Fireworks and Parade
Everyone should experience the 4th of July in Coronado is an event at least once in their lifetime. Festivities take place throughout the entirety of the day, starting with the classic Coronado Independence Day Parade at 10AM. What’s better than watching a spectacular firework display on the beach? The Coronado Ferry Landing is a perfect spot to catch the Big Bay Boom. Grab a lawn chair or find a boat to watch the display right on the water.
Hotel Del Coronado Summer Events
No matter the time of year, you’ll want to check the Hotel Del Coronado’s event calendar. During the warmer months, head to the hotel to catch Movies on the Beach, where you can snuggle up on the sand and watch your favorite flick under the night sky. Feeling artsy? Get your creative juices flowing with Painting by the Sea, a 90-minute class where you can paint with the ocean serving as your backdrop.
Coronado Summer Concert Series
The city of Coronado loves to support its local businesses. You can bet that includes local musicians! This marks the 49th year of the Coronado Summer Concert Series, where every Sunday a different band performs a mixture of classics and original music. So head to Spreckels Park for an afternoon filled with tunes!

While this event is not located in Coronado, it’s an easy ferry ride away. You can catch Comic-Con July 18-21. Head over to the San Diego Convention Center to take part in this year’s 50th annual event, or take a walk around the busy streets of the Gaslamp for exhibits. Many downtown restaurants fully embrace the Comic-Con scene, with some even collaborating with big brands to offer unique themed dining experiences.
